The purpose of the research was to determine students' interest in learning English vocabulary using audiovisual media at the eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan and to describe the factors that influence the students in learning English vocabulary using audiovisual media at the eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan. The type of the research used was descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of the research were eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan and English teacher of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan. The researcher took 30 students for fulfilling the questionaries. Then the researcher took 10 students and 1 English teacher for interviews. Data were collected by using questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis techniques were data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion: drawing or verifying. The results of the research showed that most students have a great interest in learning English vocabulary when it used audiovisual media. Students were very enthusiastic in learning English vocabulary when it used audiovisual media. The interest factors that influence students in learning English vocabulary using audiovisual media in the eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan were: 1) internal factors; a) health, b) talent, c) readiness; 2) external factors: a) family; b) school.

The main purpose of this research was to assess whether there was any influence of Video as a learning media on the students career understanding Eight Grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan. The research design was a pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design. The research population was all Eight Grade student of SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan, namely 216 students. The total number of samples was 35 students. Researchers used a scale of career understanding with Likert scales and used random sampling to sample. Data analysis techniques were descriptive and inferential analytical techniques with T-tes paired sample analysis using the SPSS 26.0 for windows program. Based on the research results before and after treatment, the result of the hypothesized test with asymp value = 0,000 0.05 indicated that Ha was accepted and Ho rejected. Therefore, based on the research result, visual audio (Video) has influenced the students career understanding Eight Grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan Academic Years 2022/2023

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan strategi generative dengan menggunakan media audio visual dalam pembelajaran menulis teks laporan hasil observasi pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 tarakan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu penelitian eksperimen yang memiliki kelas kontrol pada penelitiannya. Penelitian eksperimen digunakan untuk mengetahui keefektifan strategi generative dengan menggunakan media audio visual dengan menggunakan desain penelitian pretest-posttest control grup design. Populasi dalam penelitan adalah siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling yang terbagi menjadi dua kelas yaitu kelas VII-G sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII-H sebagai kelas kontrol dengan masing-masing berjumlah 18 siswa setiap kelasnya. Data di analisis dengan menggunakan uji statistik independent sample t-test dengan bantuan software SPSS versi 26 for windows. Berdasarkan data pada baris equal variances assumed (varians diasumsikan sama) diperoleh t hitung 2,250 pada taraf signifikan a = 0,05 dan df = 34 diperoleh nilai t tabel 1,690 berarti t hitung ≥ t tabel (2,250 ≥ 1,690) artinya Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Berdasarkan data di atas dapat disimpulkan “strategi generative dengan menggunakan media audio visual efektif terhadap pembelajaran menulis teks laporan hasil observasi pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan”. Strategi generative dengan menggunakan media audio visual ini membuat siswa lebih aktif dan antusias dalam proses pembelajaran, serta peran guru sebagai fasilitator yang membimbing siswa. Berbeda dengan kelas kontrol yang hanya menggunakan media audio visual sehingga siswa kurang aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. ABSTRACT This present study aimed determining the effectiveness of generative strategy using audio visual media in learning to write an text observations report text by the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan. This study employed an experimental research with a pretest-posttest control group design in which there were two groups as the experimental class and as the control class. Experimental research was used determine the effectiveness of generative strategy with audio visual media. The population was the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan. The simple random sampling technique was carried out to select the representative samples. The students from class VII-G was the experimental class and those in class VII-H was the control class with 18 students in each class. Data were analyzed using independent sample t-test with the help of SPSS software version 26 for windows. Based on SPSS output in equal variances assumed, it was the t-test value 2.250, then t-table value was clarified as 1.690 at the level of significance a = 0.05 and df = 34. This andicated that the value of t-test was greater than that of the t-table (2.250 > 1.690). Thus, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted . It was concluded that the generative strategy with audio visual media was effective for learning to write observations report text. This generative strategy with audio visual media encouraged the students to be more active and enthusiastic in the process of learning and made the teacher easier as being a facilitator to guide the students. This result was in contrast with those in control class in which audio visual media was used without generative strategy where the student were less active in the process of learning.
