The objective of this study was to examine the use of "VOA Learning English" YouTube videos in teaching listening skills to eighth-grade students, specifically in class VIII-C at SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan. The researcher employed a descriptive qualitative method in this study. The research was conducted with eighth-grade students in class VIII-C at SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan from May 8, 2024, to June 31, 2024 The researcher used three instruments to measure, collect, and analyze data: documentation, observation, and interviews. In this study, the researcher used descriptive qualitative analysis following procedural steps, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The researcher concluded that the factors contributing to students' difficulties in listening comprehension were a lack of vocabulary and the necessity for students to engage in independent learning outside of school to improve their English language skills and vocabulary. Based on documentation, observation, and interviews with several students to investigate their perspectives on applying "VOA Learning English" YouTube videos to enhance listening skills, the research conclusion was that these videos facilitate more effective audio comprehension practice for the students.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether there were differences between students who are taught using the BBC learning English application as a medium with students are taught using conventional methods (audio visual) in terms of ability speaking tenth grade students at SMAN 1 Tarakan. Methods used in this research, it is a quasi-experimental method, the form of design chosen in this research, nonequivalent control design is the object in this study, tenth grade F was the experimental class and tenth grade I as a control class taken using purposive sampling technique. Researchers used the independent sample t-test to examine the data. The results of this research show that there are significant differences between students taught using the BBC learning English application as media with students taught using conventional methods (audio visual) in teaching students' speaking skills. As a result, the hypothesis test determines that the significant factor is smaller than 0.05, and the resulting t test (3.664) is stronger than the t-table (1.666). The data shows that Ha is accepted, and Ho rejected. Ha claims significant improvement in speaking ability students use the BBC learning English application as a training medium speaking skills of tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Tarakan.

This research was aimed to develop learning media for class X at SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan and produce effective learning media products from the design and material aspects and attract students' interest by learning English. This research is a research and development of the ADDIE model which consists of five stages (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation, and (5) Evaluation. The instrument uses a material expert validation questionnaire, as well as a media validation (design) questionnaire and a student response questionnaire. The results of the research from the validation of interactive learning media through validation by material experts and media experts reached a percentage of 82% with very good qualifications and 78% with good qualifications. The results of the student response questionnaire to interactive learning media were divided into three, the one to one formative evaluation trial with a percentage of 71.2% with good qualifications, the small evaluation group test trial with a percentage of 78.2% with good qualifications, and the field test formative evaluation trial, with a percentage of 78.5% with good qualifications. Product trials were carried out in class X SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan. The results of research and development of learning media are suitable for use in learning English.

DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING MEDIA BASED ON QUIET BOOK AT SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP IT ULUL ALBAB TARAKAN Abstract This study aimed to develop learning media that had effective design and attractive materials to be used in learning English for seventh grade students at SMP IT Ulul Albab Tarakan. This was research and development study using ADDIE model that considered of five stages: (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation, (5) Evaluation. The instruments used in this study consisted of a material expert validation questionnaire, and media (design) validation questionnaire and students response questionnaire. The result of the study showed that the validation by Quiet Book material experts and media experts were 77% and 76% respectively and both were at good qualifications. The results of the students questionnaire responses which were divided into three showed that the one to one formative evaluation trial was 93% (very good qualification), the small evaluation trial was 87% (very good qualification), and the field test formative evaluation trial was 88% (very good qualification). The results of the research and development of learning media Quiet Book were appropriate for use in learning English for seventh grade students at SMP IT Ulul Albab Tarakan.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kesulitan siswa di dalam pembelajaran skills dan components Bahasa Inggris pada kelas 8 di SMPN 7 Tarakan tahun pembelajaran 2019/2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kasus. Penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik Cluster Sampling. Peneliti mengambil 48 siswa dari 8 kelas untuk melaksanakan penelitian ini. Data dari penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan kuesioner, catatan lapangan, dan wawancara dengan guru dan siswa. Peneliti menggunakan metode triangulasi untuk memeriksa keabsahan data. Peneliti menggunakan metode berbeda untuk mendapatkan beberapa data. Untuk mendapatkan keabsahan data dalam penelitian ini, penelitian memberikan kuesioner, menuliskan catatan lapangan, dan melakukan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan 1) Dari kuesioner, kesulitan siswa dalam pembelajaran keterampilan Bahasa Inggris sebagian besar dalam berbicara. Para siswa sulit berbicara dengan lancar. Kesulitan siswa dalam mempelajari komponen bahasa Inggris sebagian besar dalam pengucapan. Para siswa biasanya tidak dapat mengucapkan dengan benar karena dalam bahasa Inggris cara mengucapkannya berbeda dengan menulis. 2) Dari catatan lapangan, kesulitan siswa sebagian besar adalah kurangnya kosa kata dan mereka tidak dapat mengucapkan dengan benar yang membuat siswa merasa tidak tertarik dan malas belajar bahasa Inggris. 3) Dari wawancara, hasil menunjukkan bahwa guru memiliki banyak upaya untuk mengajar mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Para guru membimbing siswa saat proses belajar mengajar. Para guru selalu bertanya kepada siswa apa yang menurut siswa sulit dan guru serta siswa belajar bersama. Para guru juga memberi contoh bagaimana cara mengucapkan kata yang sulit. Hasil wawancara kepada siswa menunjukkan bahwa hampir siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Kesulitan kebanyakan siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris adalah siswa kurang memiliki kosakata sehingga siswa tidak mengerti arti ketika siswa mendengarkan apa yang dikatakan guru, ketika siswa berbicara, ketika siswa membaca teks, dan ketika siswa menulis tugas mereka.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif untuk kelas XII di SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Selor dan menghasilkan produk media pembelajaran interaktif yang efektif dari aspek desain dan materi serta menarik minat siswa dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) dari model ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahap (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation, dan (5) Evaluation. Instrumen penelitian dan pengembangan ini menggunakan angket validasi ahli materi, serta angket validasi media (desain) serta angket respons siswa. Hasil penelitian dari validasi media pembelajaran interaktif melalui validasi oleh ahli materi macromedia dan ahli media mencapai persentase 76% dan 75% dengan kualifikasi baik. Hasil angket respon siswa terhadap media pembelajaran interaktif terbagi menjadi tiga, uji coba one to one formative evaluation dengan persentase sebesar 87% dengan kualifikasi sangat baik, uji coba small evaluation group test dengan persentase sebesar 87% dengan kualifikasi sangat baik, dan uji coba field test formative evaluation dengan persentase sebesar 84% dengan kualifikasi sangat baik. Uji coba produk dilaksanakan di kelas XII SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Selor. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan media pembelajaran interaktif layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.
