Nature of science is the knowledge that refers to the science epistemology (method), process, value, and belief that is attached to the development of scientific knowledge and about how to deal with and solve scientific problems wisely. This research has a purpose to find out about the nature of scientific knowledge of new student batch 2021 from the Biology Education Program Study at Borneo Tarakan University. This type of research is descriptive with the qualitative method. The data collection technique is done by quota sampling technique, with a number of samples of as many as 48 students from the whole population, about 59 students. This research instrument is VNOS form B, which consists of test questions I and test questions II related to the nature of science that consists of six question items that represent every aspect of the nature of science, such as Tentative, Empiris Base, Theory And Law, Social And Culture, Creativity, and also Observation And Inference. The percentage category of this research belongs to the very low category with the value around 36%, in the low category with the value around 36-51%, in the well-enough category with the value around 52-76%, in the good category with the value around 68-83%, and the excellent category with the value around 80-100%. The result of this research shows that the understanding level of nature of the science of new students batch 2021 from Biology Education Program Study in Borneo Tarakan University is belonging to the low category. The percentage result of the understanding level of students’ answers about the nature of science for test questions I is about 50%, while the percentage result for test questions II is about 48%.

The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the quality of English questions for 7th Grade Students of SMPN 5 Tarakan in the academic year 2019/2020. This research used a descriptive quantitative method. A total of 50 students were took as the research sample using sample ramdom sampling. The data in this study were in the form of question sheets and students answer sheets. The test question sheet consisted of 50 multiple choice questions. Answer sheets were needed for statistical analysis to determine the quality of the items based on question analysis, validity and difficulty level. The result of the data analysis showed that the English semester test questions were 22 items (44%) were valid questions and 28 items (56%) were invalid questions, and 7 items (14%) were at satisfactory validiity level, 19 items (38%) were at poor validity level, 24 items (48%) were at very bad validity level. And the results of difficulty level showed that 19 items (38%) were difficult questions, 22 items (44%) were moderate questions, and 9 items (18%) were easy questions. It was concluded that the items analyzed were classified as bad items because there were only 4 items that could be accepted or could be used without revision, 21 items had to be revised, andd 25 items had to be discarded.
