ANALISIS KETERAMPILAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA PADA MATERI KLASIFIKASI MAKHLUK HIDUP DENGAN METODE ACTIVE LEARNING DI SMP NEGERI 12 TARAKAN
ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS' CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS ON THE TOPIC OF LIVING ORGANISMS CLASSIFICATION THROUGH THE ACTIVE LEARNING METHOD Abstract This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 12 Tarakan on living organisms classification topics by implementing the active learning method. Critical thinking is one of the essential 21st-century skills that should be nurtured in the learning process, particularly in science education. The Active Leaming method was chosen because it allows students to be directly involved in experiencing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions about the concepts they study through hands-on learning This research employed a descriptive design with a quantitative approach. The study subjects were students of classes VII.1 and VII.2 at SMP Negeri 12 Tarakan in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection techniques were through observations, interviews, and open-ended test questions designed to assess various indicators of critical thinking skills, including interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation The findings revealed that students' critical thinking skills fall into the good to very good category, with an average indicator achievement rate of 82.3%. The use of active learning methods has proven effective in increasing students' active participation and supporting the development of critical thinking skills, especially in understanding the material on the classification of living things. This study recommends the application of active learning methods consistently in order to create a fun and meaningful learning atmosphere.
