Abstrak
This study aimed to determine the effect of self-instruction technique on the academic resilience of ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Tarakan. The background of this study is the low academic resilience of students, which is indicated by difficulties in completing assignments, lack of self-confidence, and minimal social support in facing academic pressure. The study used a quantitative experimental method with a Pre-Experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The subjects consisted of 11 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert scale of academic resilience and analyzed with a Paired Sample T-Test. The results of the study showed a significant improvement after providing group counseling services using the self-instruction technique. In the pretest, the majority of students were in the low (72.73%) and medium (27.27%) categories. After the posttest, all students (100%) reached the high category, with the average score increasing from 57.18 to 99.00 (t=-24.012; p = 0.000 0.05). From this result, it can be concluded that the self-instruction technique is effective in improving students' academic resilience and can be used as one of the techniques in counseling services.
