HIERARKI KEBUTUHAN MANUSIA DALAM NOVEL WHAT’S SO WRONG ABOUT YOUR SELF HEALING KARYA ARDHI MOHAMMAD (KAJIAN PSIKOLOGI SASTRA)
This research aims to describe the manifestation of the hierarchy of human needs according to Maslow found in the novel "What's So Wrong About Your Self Healing" (WsWaYSH) by Ardhi Mohammad. This study employs a qualitative method with a focus on literary psychology. The researcher utilized data in the form of sentences from the novel and supplementary sources such as journals and articles. The analysis process involved reading, listening, and noting techniques to identify, classify, and interpret the novel's human needs categories. The findings indicate that the novel WsWaYSH presents a hierarchy of human needs according to Maslow's theory, including safety, love, esteem, and self-actualization. The need for safety encompasses feelings of disappointment towards parents, parental demands, hopelessness, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, dependency, anxiety, failure, depression, despair, and self-protection. The need for love and belonging involves acceptance, love, and validation from others. The esteem needs relate to self-esteem and self-acceptance. The process of self-healing represents the need for self-actualization. The analysis of the hierarchy of human needs based on Maslow's theory reveals that physiological needs are not found in the novel. The data collected includes 11 instances of safety needs, followed by 1 instance of love needs, 2 instances of esteem needs, and 4 instances of self-actualization needs. The safety needs are more dominant in this novel. Thus, the literary work "WsWaYSH" reflects 18 data points regarding the hierarchy of human needs. The need for safety significantly influences various aspects of the main character's life before achieving higher-level needs.
