KONDISI STRUKTUR KOMUNITAS MOLLUSCA DI LOKASI PERLUASAN KAWASAN KONSERVASI MANGROVE DAN BEKANTAN (KKMB) KOTA TARAKAN

2025•Skripsi, Thesis, Disertasi, dan Tugas Akhir

Mangrove forests are unique coastal ecosystems found in tropical regions such as Indonesia. Gastropods and bivalves, mollusks with or without shells, are commonly found in mangrove ecosystems, living on or within substrates and attaching to mangrove roots. This study aimed to examine the community structure of mollusks in the Mangrove and Proboscis Monkey Conservation Area (MPMCA) in Tarakan. A quantitative descriptive and survey-based method was used. Fieldwork (in situ) was conducted to identify the composition and abundance of mollusks in the conservation zone. The findings revealed the presence of the Mollusca phylum, consisting of two classes, gastropods with 811 individuals (96.20%) and bivalves with 32 individuals (3.80%). Gastropod abundance was dominated by Nerita sp. (44.0%), followed by Bythinia (25.2%) and Telescopium (23.6%). A single species represented bivalves, Gelonia sp. (kapah clam). The Shannon-Wiener diversity index was very low (H0.1618), indicating low diversity, while the dominance index was high for gastropods (D0.0588) and bivalves (D-0.1582), reflecting an imbalanced mollusk community structure. A rise in gastropod numbers from 749 individuals in 2021 to 811 in 2025 suggests improving the mangrove ecosystem quality in the KKMB Tarakan City.

KEANEKARAGAMAN IKAN DI PERAIRAN MUARA BULUNGAN DAN PERAIRAN MUARA SESAYAP KALIMANTAN UTARA

2023•Skripsi, Thesis, Disertasi, dan Tugas Akhir

Abstract Fish resources refer to abundant fish and other marine organisme with the inherent capacity for natural replenishment. A diverse range of fish species is captured using fishing gear known as Stownets. This study assessed the fish variety and catch rates in Muara Bulungan and Muara Sesayap, located in North Kalimantan. The investigation was conducted throughout the period spanninf from October to November of the year 2022. The research employed a quantitative descriptive methodology. The sampling procedure was conducted during the alternating periods of high and low tides in seawater. Samples of fish were obtained from the captures of Tugu fishing gear. A total of 30 distinct species were observed, classified into 3 phla, 7 classes, 16 orders, 18 families, and 29 genera. Gazza is the fish species exhibiting with the lowest abundance is scatophagous, comprising a mere 0,01% of the population. The recorded fish catch rates for the Muara Bulungan fishing are as follows: trip 1 yielded an approximate rate of 2,725 kg/h, trip 2 resulted in a rate of 1,089 kg/h, and trip3 exhibited flow rates for trip 1, trip 2, and trip 3 were 1,834 kg/h, 1,375 kg/h, and 2,581 kg/h , respectively.
