Abstrak
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of group guidance on the learning motivation of Grade XI students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Tarakan. Low learning motivation was seen from passive attitudes, a tendency to give up easily, a lack of concentration, and low student engagement during lessons, which negatively gave impact on learning outcomes. One strategy to address this issue was the implementation of group guidance services. The study employed a quantitative experimental approach using a pre-experimental one-group pre-test-post-test design. Data were collected using a learning motivation scale. The study population consisted of 147 Grade XI students, with a sample of 10 students which were selected using simple random sampling. Data analysis was conducted using both descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS 21.0. The results showed that the mean pre-test score of 63.20 increased to 103.80 in the post-test. Hypothesis testing using a paired-sample t-test was a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 ( 0.05); thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Consequently, it can be concluded that group guidance has a significant effect on enhancing the learning motivation of Grade XI students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Tarakan.
