Abstrak
Everyday life in Indonesia is regulatedby law because Indonesia is a country of laws. Because Indonesia is an archipelago, various tribes live there. Indonesia has many different traditions based on its various tribes, one of which is the tradition of marriage. This research was conducted to answer related traditions of Kiwon Talu Landom. How is the tradition of Kiwon Talu Landom according to customary law and how is this tradition seen from the perspective of Islamic law. This study uses a normative descriptive analysis using a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The sources of this research are divided into two. Primary sources consist of the 1945 Law, the Marriage Law, and applicable Islamic law. Secondary sources come from books and journals that provide information on customary law and Islam. The results of this study are the customs of the Tidung tribe known as Kiwon Talu Landom. In this tradition, the bride and groom cannot unite or perform the first night before the event is held on the third night. This is intended so that the families get to know each other first before actually going through the household in the future. In terms of culture, this aims to be a test for the groom and teaches the groom to be patient in facing life in the future and this is permissible as long as there is an agreement between husband and wife basically not contradicting Islamic law and other Indonesian laws.
