Abstrak
The mung bean plant is a plant that is included in secondary crops that is widely consumed by the people of Indonesia. The mung bean plant has the potential to be developed because it contains many nutrients that are beneficial for humans. Some of the problems in cultivating mung bean plants result in decreased production, one of which is the presence of weeds on cultivated land. Weeds are plants whose presence is undesirable on cultivated land because it can harm farmers, for this reason it is necessary to control them. Weed control can be done by weeding. This study aimed to determine the effect of the weeding period on growth and production yield of mung bean crops. This study was conducted on the land of Agriculture Faculty, University of Borneo Tarakan using a randomized group design (RAK) consisting of one factor in 4 treatments and repeated for 6 times, the treatment was PO (without weeding), P1 (one-time weeding of 15 HST), P2 (weeding twice of 15 and 30 HST), P3 (weeding three times of 15, 30 and 45 HST). The data obtained were analyzed by means of variance, there were significantly different treatments which were tested further with the smallest significant difference test (BNT) level of 5%. The results showed that weeding treatment had a significant effect on plant growth at the age of 6 and 8 MST. However, it had no significant effect on the yield of mung bean crops. The best treatment for growth was found in P2 treatment (weeding twice of 15 and 30 days after planting) with an average plant height value of 31.76 aged 6 MST, 32.68 aged 8 MST. In the parameter, the number of leaves had a value of 5.08 at the age of 6 MST, 5.54 at the age of 8 MST.
