Abstrak
This study aimed to investigate effect of reciprocal teaching procedure to improve students reading comprehension at seventh grade of SMPN 4 Tarakan. The design of this research was pre-experimental. Using a purposive sampling technique, a total of 26 students from class VII-6 were determined as the research sample. Data were colleted through a written test. The colleted data were analyzed descriptively using the spss 22.0. the results showed there was a differentce in the mean scores between a pretest and a posttest. The mean score for the pretest was 64.23 and that for the posttest was 82.12. there was an increase by 17.89, with the posttest result was higher than the pretest. The result of paired sample test showed that the t-test was 12.182 and the t-table was 2.080. The t-test result was higher than the t-table (11,031 > 2,080). The null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypthesis (Ha) was accepted. Based on the analysis, it was proven that learning using the reciprocal teaching had an effect on improving reading comprehension of the seventh grade students of SMPN 4 Tarakan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk pengaruh terhadap peningkatan pemahaman siswa dalam membaca menggunakan metode Reciprocal Teaching Proceduresiswa kelas VII-6diSMPN 4 Tarakan. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil skor rata-rata siswa. Skor rata-rata siswa dalam pretest adalah 64.23 dan skor rata-rataposttest adalah 82.12. Ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa mengalami peningkatansebesar17.89. Nilai rata-rata siswa pada posttest lebih tinggi daripada pretest.Hasil dari paired sample test,menunjukkan hasil t-test adalah 12.182dan t-table adalah 2.080. Hasil t-test lebih tinggi dari t-table (11.031> 2.080).
