Abstrak
Environmental awareness is a person’s awareness of events that have or are happening in the environment, as well as congnitive events that include memory, thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations. through the field of education, efforts to overcome environmental problemns are carried out by instilling environmental awareness in school to build communities in schools, from the way of thinking to the behavior of students to be in harmony with the environment. This study aims to determine the environmental awareness of students at SMP Negeri 11 Tarakan. This research was a qualitative. Research instruments were interviews, observations, and documentatiom. Data analysis in the form of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Triangulation used source triangulation to test the validaty of the date. The research subjects were 15 students of class 7.1 with sampling using purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that they already have environmental awareness. Indicators of aspects of environmental awareness consist of getting used to throwing garbage in its place, caring for plants, maintaining cleanliness, being aware of greening and tidying up learning equipment. Indicators that have been implemented are getting used to throwing garbage in its place, maintaining cleanliness and tidying up learning equipment. Indicators that have not been implemented are caring for plants and being aware of greening.
