Abstrak
ABSTRACT This study aimed to describe the profile of the National English test results for junior high schools in Nunukan Regency and to find out whether there were results differences based on schools status, school accreditation, student’s achievement and gender. This study used a comparative causal method and a total sampling technique. A total sample of 2975 students were taken from 52 schools. The results of the test was taken from the Education and Culture Office in Nunukan Regency in the 2018/2019 academic year. The data was analyzed descriptively and inferentially using Mann Whitney Test and the Kruskall Test. The analysis result show that (1) Students from public schools were better than students private schools; (2) there were significant differences in the test results between schools with accreditation A, B, C and those without accreditation, with the following highest order of results: schools accreditation A, schools with accreditation C, schools without accreditation, and schools with accreditation B; (3) English score had an effect on the national exam score ( NUN); (4) female students’ had better English score than male students.
