Abstrak
The purpose of the research was to improve the vocabulary achievement of eighth-grade students at SMPN 3 Malinau Barat through pictures media. The rescarcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles. The research was conducted in class VIII-B of SMPN 3 Malinau Barat. There were 26 students. During the implementation phase, the researcher used teaching modules that focused on vocabulary (nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs) through pictures. The research instruments used were written tests and observation sheets. Then the researcher collected the data using written tests and observation sheets. The results of the research showed an enhancement in the vocabulary mastery of students in class VIII-B of SMP 3 Malinau Barat, Malinau Regency. In cycle I, the percentage of student mastery was 53.84%. In cycle Il, it increased to 76.92%. The use of pictures media in English learning can improve the student engagement, foster a more dynamic classroom environment, and boost student motivation to lear. This finding suggests that the integration of pictures media can improve English vocabulary acquisition and students' motivation in the learning process.
