PENGARUH KONSELING KELOMPOK DENGAN TEKNIK RATIONAL EMOTIVE BEHAVIOR TERHADAP SISWA FIXED MINDSET DI SMP MUHAMMADIYAH 1 TARAKAN
This study aims to determine the effect of group counseling using Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REB) techniques on students with a fixed mindset at SMP of fixed mindset tendencies among students, such as a fear of facing challenges, a tendency to give up easily, and a negative attitude toward criticism. The study employed a quantitative experimental method using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 5 students selected through purposive sampling based on fixed mindset criteria and recommendations from the guidance counselor. Data were collected using a fixed mindset Likert scale (26 valid items) and analyzed using a paired-sample t-test. The results showed a significant decrease after five counseling sessions. On the pretest, all students (100%) were in the high category; on the posttest, 4 students (80%) were in the low category, and 1 student (20%) was in the moderate category, with the mean score decreasing from 86.00 to 46.60 (t 16.561; p=0.000 0.05). It was concluded that group counseling using the REB technique is effective in reducing students' fixed mindsets and can be used as one of the techniques in guidance and counseling services.
