The Effect of English Video Blog on Students’ Speaking Skill at SMPN 9 TARAKAN
Students’ ability to speak English can be enhanced through the usage of English video blogs as learning tool. The purpose of this study was to determine whether English video blogs at SMPN 9 Tarakan had a noteworthy impact on students’ English speaking skill. Quantitative pre-experimental research technique was used in this study. Thirty students from class VIII-3 SMPN 9 Tarakan participated in this study. A speaking test which emphasized on fluency, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension served as the primary means of gathering data for this study. The paired t-test was used for quantitative data analysis. The study’s findings indicated that t-table, tt = 1.699 and to (t-calculated) = 7.462 (t0 > tt), was smaller than the computed t. The t test indicated that the significance level was 0.5 and the sig (2-tailed) was 0.000 in addiction to the probabilistic technique. Because sig (2-tailed) was smaller than the significance level, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. The analysis’s findings support the conclusion that the students’ English-speaking skill was significantly impacted by the English video blog.
